This is a post I started last year while at Maggie’s Place…I decided to post it now just because…

How did we get to the place where we simply “love” everything?  You know what I mean, “Oh I just love your earrings.”  “Didn’t you love that cheesecake?”  “I really love _____.” You fill in the blank; we “loooove” everything.

The bible says a lot about what love is…

1 Corinthians 13:4-8New Living Translation (NLT)

4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Jesus said this…

Mark 12:30-31New King James Version (NKJV)

30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

I have heard it said before that it sure would be nice if babies came with an instruction manual.  I have always been a single parent…one of the many reasons I feel the Lord called me to Maggie’s Place.  I know the struggle of being a single mom and I remember wishing for this instruction manual when I was raising my son.  Little did I know that the Bible is an instruction manual for how to raise our children as well as how to manage our homes, our finances, our time…it is basically an instruction manual for, “How To Do Life” if you’ll let it be.
I know that here at Maggie’s Place there sure is a whole lotta love being spread around. We experience the love of our Heavenly Father every day through each other.  Through the hearts of the moms who come to us for shelter and find comfort, fellowship and a fresh start, through the smiles and giggles of the babies who are so blessed to be born into a community of mission corps, donors and volunteers who shower them with love each and every day.

My son, Cody will be 27 on the 17th of October.  He is a gift from God and I am so thankful to God for the privilege of being his mom.  He probably doesn’t even realize this but his love kept me going in some really hard times.  It was because of my love for him that I cried out to God to asking Him to reveal Himself to me when I wanted to die.

2 John 1:6  And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

    1. I think I just forgot to add it here. It was a post I submitted to the Maggie’s Place blog site. We were asked to allow it to post there first before adding it to anything else. Sometimes they re-worded things so I didn’t want to post them here unless they were my originals. This one is all mine. 😉

  2. So true Jackie! God’s Love is amazing for God IS Love! We have overused that word and very often it has lost all meaning. When one knows the Love of God, they truely know what love is.
    KEEP THE LIGHT ON!
