So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God

    1. the relationship between sisters.
    2. an association, society, or community of women linked by a common interest, religion, or trade.

I don’t know what I’d do without my sister. We are separated by six years in age but our souls are much closer than that. I’m the oldest but for many years, I felt like she was much wiser. I guess because she was one of those people who could actually learn from someone else’s mistakes… namely mine. That’s the great thing about sisters though; sisters don’t dwell on the mistakes but cherish the moments. The moments of sharing and caring, crying and laughing, being silly and even being angry. It’s all those little moments that add up to a lifetime.

I’m humbled by the sense of sisterhood that develops at Maggie’s Place. Women from all different walks of life and all different stages of adulthood come together here, and for a short time we live together, work together and eat together. We laugh together, cry together and work things out together. Some of these women have never known the joy and the heartache of having a sister but by the time they leave here, they have many and they’ve experienced a little taste of both.

Others have broken relationships with their sisters or other family members. When they come to Maggie’s Place and begin to feel safe and loved, they can begin to heal and begin to mend those relationships. Wherever there is love, there can also be pain. We just need to remember that love isn’t a feeling; love is a choice. And if love is a choice, then the pain of offense is also a choice. Don’t waste time being offended, or forfeit your relationships because of offense.

The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and his glory is to overlook a transgression. Proverbs 19:11

At Maggie’s Place, each person who walks through our doors is truly confronted with the love of Christ. Lives are being changed every day. We may not have it all together, we may make mistakes and miss opportunities, but if our mission is to show the love of Christ, we are a huge success.

I for one am grateful for the sisterhood of Maggie’s Place. I’m also grateful for social media which will allow me the opportunity to keep up with my relationships with these beautiful women who have become my sisters in Christ. I’m excited to see how the babies have grown and when these ladies get married or go on to college and/or careers.

There’s an old saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” That’s what Maggie’s Place represents… a village or better yet, a sisterhood!

I dedicate this post to my sister, Michele Tucker (a MP volunteer) for her birthday on January 15 and all the women of Maggie’s Place especially during my year of service 1/18/16-1/31/17… Jesus loves you and so do I!
