Self control.

That’s it…just control yourself.

If you’re born again…(which I realize may need some explanation and I will post on that next time) you can trust in the Holy Spirit to be working in you to give you self control.Β  It’s something you have to begin to cultivate but you can do it…

You.

Control.

Yourself.

    1. Agreed Tony. I wrote that as a reminder to myself as well…As I am “studying” the fruits of the Spirit, it often occurs to me that I try to do things in my own strength and with my own effort. I believe we gain faith and the ability to rely on the Spirit working within us as we study His word. Without that, without the truth of His word planted deep within we just keep “trying” to do what we can. But 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us: No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to [a]bear it. I believe that “way of escape” is knowing HIS WORD as TRUTH…and exercising that through putting His word into action in our lives. If we can avoid the temptations all together we’re better off…but when a temptation comes (as we know they will) we have to trust that God does provide a way of escape (through His word) that we can overcome with the help of the Holy Spirit. We can exercise self control by surrendering “our will” to His will. But I agree, it is not something that comes without effort on our part; and that’s not always easy. Be blessed Tony…thank you for your comment.
