When Jesus told Peter and the apostles He was giving them the keys to the kingdom He was talking about the WORD OF GOD. The words He spoke to them they later wrote about and that is what became the New Testament. The New Covenant between God and man was established through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He sent the Holy Spirit to bring to remembrance of all the things He said and did so that it could be recorded for future generations. (John 14:6) The idea that “tradition” is equal to scripture is unbiblical. Jesus said in Matthew 15:9 (NKJV)9 “And in vain they worship Me,Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.”
God Himself says the Bible is adequate for teaching us. (2 Timothy 3:16) And He sent the Holy Spirit to inspire them and others to write the words that are in the Bible. (John 14:26).
Why do we try to complicate things? If you don’t have the Bible as your authority my heart breaks for you…I pray that each person reading this will ask the Father for the wisdom to know the truth.
