Through faith in Jesus Christ. Ā
Read Galatians 2 here.Ā Ā Seriously, read it. Ā It’s short.Ā
I believe Galatians 2:14-16 is especially important…this is the where Paul rebukes Peter:
14Ā But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, āIf you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews? 15Ā We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 16Ā knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. Ā (italics was included but the underlining is mine)
I believe the Lord is calling me, and all believers, to be straightforward about the truth ofĀ the gospel. Ā Everyone says, “speak the truth in love” but they have twisted it all up to mean something totally different. Ā Today people think that speaking the truth in love is to skirt around the truth so that you don’t hurt someone’s feelings, because hurting their feelings wouldn’t be “loving”. Ā
Speak the truth in love means this: Ā BECAUSE you love someone you tell them the truth; even if it hurts, them or you.
Paul rebuked Peter because he loved him and he loved the people they were ministering to. Ā He also knew Peter knew the truth because He had actually walked with Jesus! Ā But now he was being led astray by fear. Ā
The fear of man brings a snare but whoever trusts in the Lord will be safe. Proverbs 29:25
I’ve really been praying about these things:
When we encounter others in error how should we handle that? Ā
What is my role in this? Ā
Where does my responsibility begin and where does it end?
I welcome your comments on this…
Below is the video testimony of a former Catholic Priest Richard Bennett, as well as some questions he answers about the Catholic Church. Ā He speaks the truth in love. Ā He has a passion for telling fellow Catholics the truth of the Gospel; that salvation comes by grace alone through faith alone in Christ Jesus alone. Ā If you or someone you know is Catholic, I hope you’ll listen…and encourage them to listen too. Ā We have to start talking about this…people’s lives are at stake; their eternity.
Ā
Great post! We are to be BOLD! Boldness is viewed as “discrimination” and “intolerant” but it is the greatest application to love!

Itās so difficult with our current social culture of inclusiveness and tolerance…even in my own family. Iād say family is the hardest crowd!

I know this to be the utmost truth! Salvation is viewed differently by others. But family is very different. They’ve seen you all their lives and then they see, “Jackie got saved now she’s throwing her religion off on all of us”. They don’t see the change from within.

Itās weird though because they have told me how glad they are that āIāve found Jesusā…but thatās just it, I DIDNāT find Him; I didnāt want Him…I wanted to die. But He found me. And He has opened my eyes to the truth of His gospel. HE SAVES! Not a religion. My mom believes I have a āpieceā of the truth and she is praying for me to come into the āfullnessā of truth…the Catholic Church. The torture I feel in wanting her to see that itās exactly the opposite. This must be how we suffer for Christ…we who know the truth and pray for those who are lost. God help me!

I understand completely! I’ve went through the same with my wife. I’ve went a good part of my life seeing behind the curtain so to speak about many things. People are so tunnel visioned and 1-track minded, basically simple minded and it’s how they’ve been raised, it’s how all they know. It’s hard because it’s a mental and spiritual stronghold. And it really takes the Lord to break free. These things are so obvious to me but so “crazy” to everyone else… I call it oblivious about the obvious… and it’s an epidemic! I almost feel like how Solomon must have felt with everything he knew.. I hope this makes sense..

Thanks, Jackie! I really appreciate the ministry of Richard Bennett and of Larry Wessels at Christian Answers. To those of us who came out of Catholicism and accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior by faith alone, it’s so frustrating to see evangelical pastors and para-church leaders embracing Catholicism as a Christian entity. If you speak the truth, fellow evangelicals will brand you as negative and divisive. This is one of Satan’s greatest deceits and many of the biggest names in evangelicalism have been collaborators.

Yes Tom…and when I started seeing that it was very much like a child learning math…putting 2+2 together. When ācertainā names didnāt show up I held on to the hope that maybe they werenāt part of it…but itās clearer now. Iāve been praying for about a year now for the Lord to remove any false teachers from my life and He is faithful…but itās been a heartbreaking process and I often feel like Iām all alone. Glad to have bible believers here. Thanks!
